I was recently commissioned to make some portraits of the Tavakolis, a terrific family with whom I’ve collaborated in the past.  I’ve always had a great experience photographing this lovely family, as they have a shared enthusiasm for the craft, an openness to ideas, and well… they’re just all-around good people.

For this shoot, we met up at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, where my assistant, Dragi and I set up a make-shift studio in the Tavakolis’ room.  We decided to go for a dark background, dramatic lighting and a feeling of quiet reflection. (Thank goodness for the hotel black-out curtains which concealed the hot Florida sun).
